For the past year, Vets Helping Vets Colorado and Colorado Veterans Action have operated with a shared heartbeat: ensuring those who sacrificed the most for our country aren't taxed out of their homes.
Today, we are excited to announce a major organizational shift to streamline our mission. Moving forward, Vets Helping Vets Colorado (our 501(c)(19) non-profit) will be taking the lead on the sponsorship, promotion, and fundraising efforts for the initiative to amend the Colorado Constitution.
The Mission: 100% Exemption for 100% Disabled
Our goal remains unchanged: To provide 100% disabled veterans in Colorado with a full property tax exemption. While Colorado Veterans Action laid the groundwork, putting our non-profit at the helm allows us to better integrate this advocacy with our core mission of helping veterans navigate their VA benefits. We believe that advocating for a veteran’s financial stability is just as important as helping them file a claim.
Why This Matters
Streamlined Advocacy: By housing the promotion and fundraising under Vets Helping Vets Colorado, we can speak with one powerful, unified voice.
Community Trust: As a registered 501(c)(19), our commitment to the veteran community is the foundation of everything we do.
Direct Impact: Property taxes are rising. For a veteran on a fixed disability income, these increases can be the difference between keeping their home or being forced to move.
"We aren't just asking for a policy change; we are asking for a promise kept. If a veteran is 100% disabled due to their service, Colorado should be a place where they can live with dignity and financial security." — Curtis Link, Founder
